Pushing the envelope on a high-performance engine will lead to failure at some point. Whether is old age, internal damage caused by component failure, or simple neglect, engine failure can be devestating. When this happens there are many many choices, from rebuilding the engine in your backyard to buying a crate engine ready to drop in. We here at HRD are very familiar with all of these choices and are here to help whatever your individual needs may be. Here are but a few of the alternatives we offer:
Build it yourself!- Here at HRD we are happy to be able to provide a large range of engine parts for you to rebuild your ailing engine with. We offer pistons, rods, and other internal engine parts from all the top brands such as Arias, Pauter, CP, JE, Scat, Eagle, HKS, etc. These can be found in our ONLINE STORE and technical advise is available via email or phone at 720-212-5838.
Have us build it for you! -Yes, thats right, we can provide you with complete engine building services from a simple rebuild to a full-on race engine. We currently have rebuild packages available for the following:
Nissan: SR20DE/DET, CA18DET, RB20,25,26
Mazda: 1.6/1.8 Miata, 13B, 13BT, and 13BREW rotaries
Mitsubishi: 4G63 and 6G72 turbo engines
Toyota: 3SGTE,4AGE, 7MGTE, 1JZGTE, 2JZGTE
Our rebuilds are offered in three basic levels:
Uprated Stock:
This is a budget rebuild using new OEM replacement pistonswith new rings, new oil and water pumps, new Clevite, ACL, or KING bearings, re-worked stock rods, ARP rod bolts, ARP head studs, MLS Headgasket if available, all new timing components, complete new OEM gasket set. The block is hot-tanked, bored and honed to fit pistons, line-bore is checked, rods are completely re-worked, checked for striaght, crank is checked for striaght, ground or polished as needed, Cylinder head is hot-tanked and cleaned, valve job done, checked for proper vacumn seal. Entire engine is re-assembled using Redline or Torco assembly lube after all critical measuremnets are checked. All 4g63 and similar engines require priming and are shipped with the timing belt included but NOT installed unless the customer request otherwise.
Uprated Stock packages start at $2300 for 4-cylinder engines, $3000 for 6-cylinder engines
Budget Forged :
This includes the parts mentioned in the Uprated Stock package with the following differences:
New FORGED Pistons from JE, Manley, Arias, Wiseco
New FORGED Rods from Scat, Manley, or Eagle
Budget Forged Engines start at $3100 for 4- cylinder engines, $3800 for 6-cylinder engines
Premium Forged:
As Uprated Stock with the exception of:
New FORGED Pistons from CP, Arias(custom shop), Manley (Custom Shop) or Mahle
NEW Forged Pauter, Carrilo,Crower,or Oliver Rods

ENGINE PACKAGE WARRANTY!!!
Yes, thats right we warranty our performance engines for 1 full year from date of completion. This warranty covers ANY sort of material or workmanship defect, period. We do NOT cover damage resulting from abuse, neglect, or caused by support system malfunction, tuning errors, etc.
The warranty process is simple: If your engine fails you simply contact us immediately. If indeed the engine has failed we will work with you to arrange for transport back to the HRD shop. Generally, we prefer to have the entire vehicle brought down, but this is not always practical. Upon reciept the entire teardown process will be videotaped by a third-party. This protects both HRD and your own interests and is a non-negotiable fact.You will be provided with a copy of the video on DVD Immediately following the teardown. If the teardown shows ANY sign of assembly error or part defect we will rebuild the engine to the original spec and ship the engine back out without delay. Now, the OBVIOUS qeustion is, what happens if the failure isnt conclusive in showing that HRD is at fault, or the end-user is at fault? Will you just get screwed? NO- definitively NO! We will ALWAYS lean to your favor should the exact cause of the failure not be clear. In most cases this means we will perform the rebuild for free. Even should we determine the failure was caused by abuse, neglect, etc, we will typically provide the rebuild at a reduced labor and parts costs.
NO OTHER ENGINE SHOP HAS A WARRANTY LIKE THIS! And as far as I am aware, very few engine builders videotape the engine autopsy via a third-party and have a copy delivered to the customer. Here at HRD we all take great pride in our work, but things can happen, mistakes can be made and when those things happen we stand behind our work 100%. Even if it is not our fault we appreciatte our customers and the choice they made to use our services and will do what we can to help in those situations.
